just got that one once again, though again most of you should know it, it's way too hilarious to not watch it over and over again (:

Care to explain? My deepest apologies if this offends someone, but I see nothing but a cheap exploit of Newton's third law of motion on a slippery pair of surfaces. I'd rate the above as 3/5 because it's a kid doing it.

take a closer look at the way he moves around when he is solely on one foot.
and dont forget the floor is very slippery, else a lot of moves would not work.

i got a decent sense of balance as i do quite a bit of rock climbing now and i have skated for years.
but if i wanted to do this i'd have to train quite a bit.

it is really harder to do than how it looks like...
no offense meant, but i bet you'd do 'faceplants' when trying the do the stuff in the video.

it's always easier when you don't have to do it yourself

trust me: what that kid is doing, is friggin hard. Like stv says: it will take a lot of practice.
You try spinning 360's 4 times then continue jumping like before and I guarantee you you will go smack down on the face :)

I don't like picking up fights, but as physicist I'll explain the backwards movements. Since walking in socks indoors is quite slippery, you can slightly lower your upper body, resulting in less pressure towards the floor thus losing grip. Once lowered, you can straighten up and thus apply additional grip towards the floor. While your grip is being increased, you can hold your foot fixed on the ground and give yourself acceleration and speed. Once you have speed, lower the grip and move your legs in direction opposite from normal walking. He's also waving his hands quite a bit thus increasing the effect.

Yes, I agree he's got some sense of balance. That's why I gave him 3/5 (not 1/5), and if it were an adult, I'd give him 0/5.

And I apologize if I raised someone's nerves with physics lecture or anything else. :)

P.S.: Is my computer sooo slow, or is the video really <10fps? I know I _had_ been having problems with flash since I switched to a 64-bit OS.

to stick to the facts, for a kid it is easier, because children have a lower center of gravity.
