Flash may be scaring people away. For example, yesterday I just made a script that executes "killall npviewer.bin" (npviewer.bin bould be all and any flash in my browser), just because loading flash stuff takes bandwidth, CPU time and memory.

You're saying that you're surfing the web without FlashBlock? OMG, I can't stand this. Surfing without AdBlock and FlashBlock is teh horroros!

I'm frustrated with how slow firefox is on my computer so I don't use it much. I do have adblock and flashblock in firefox. I'm using Galeon as my default web browser, but I also often use links2 because it's _much_ faster than GUI browsers.

NoScript + Adblock Plus rocks, the only reason that keeps me with firefox.

That depends on what kind of information you're looking for. When you say "modern web", does that mean all the flashy and shiny pages, or the entire web? You'd be surprised what links can do. And there's also a "GUI" version of links2 which I also use sometimes. It doesn't support all formatting styles, but that's what makes it so fast. Reading textual information doesn't require ability to load images, java and such. Stuff such as wikipedia or documentation pages are quite readable in the "GUI" version links . It reads images, but not those annoying flying ads. It simply doesn't support them.

LOL. I block almost all *.flv by adblock and I was wandered why dswp page was empty (then i found that blocked intro).

Haha, OK, I did not think of that case when implementing the intro It does work when there is no JavaScript activated, it does work if there is no Flash installed, but it doesn't work if it is installed but gets blocked Need to think of something for that case.
