b3 is parsing logs, and they will provide some kind of logs/rcon I guess, so B3 will be the smallest change

Hell... I understand wurst pov but also I understand FS pov.

I mean working over a 15 year old engine at this moment it would be really cumbersome if you want to modify some core functions of the engine. I believe it will not take so much time to get the new game running unless something wrong happens.

My only corncern is just the gameplay... are they able to "export" the same experience to the new engine? I mean the speed which is something that I like most on this game, because any actual FPS, the programmers focus on some others things just to attract more players=more money.

I prefer old FPS over new FPS... well thats just my taste.

I hope they (FS) could succeed on this one, otherwise it could be a dead end for this mod. Also I hope DSWP could stay with the UrT server ;)

What made UrT so unique was its integration in idTech3... It will be hard for them to start over with a different engine and re-implement all the little things that once made many people love it.

It's too bad ioquake3 didn't evolve much... but as things are, they couldn't carry on with this engine. Perhaps they should have chosen idTech5 or Source (which at the beginning was based on idTech2).

The story behind 4.2 as told by Barbatos in the relatively new blogs section on urtinfo.

In other news, .019 is coming When It’s Done™ and will bring new g_gametype 10, freeze tag (somewhat different from the 4.1 mod).
