Probably due to auto-sweeping. During that time (5 secondes, every 2 or 3 minutes), I cannot do anything (mumble and UrT get all laggy). Any idea? (Linux 2.6.32/Ubuntu 10.04)

Nope can't; the current configuration cannot be changed although it is technically improvable by your solutions. I have a desktop computer, with a wi-fi antenna that looks like this plugged into a PCI card, but the problem isn't directly with the reception as natirips and neep pointed out.
