DSWP wiki

Over the past month I’ve been updating the existing articles and written a few new ones — see the makeshift index page for a list. Although the job isn’t nearly finished, it would be a good time to make the wiki somewhat more visible, starting with a proper URL. Actually, just a single redirect would do: http://www.dswp.de/wiki (note the lack of “/old/”) giving you http://www.dswp.de/old/wiki/doku.php/start so that we could give people asking questions a short simple address and tell them to read the article on the particular topic (“go to dswp.de/wiki and read the funstuff article”). (Also, a wiki link in the main menu would be nice.)

Anyway, I’m going to eat a bit and hit the sack now:-P

But one question:
I never knew about that wiki, would that not be a great place for Zottels map-research?
And how does a mere mortal like me contribute to the wiki?

Since the DSWP 2.0 development has started again, the visibility problem will be solved when the new version launches at the latest — this design already has link to the wiki in the main menu.

And how does a mere mortal like me contribute to the wiki?

Erm. I think peons indeed can’t edit the wiki… but since I’ve sort of become the self-appointed wiki manager, you could PM me any stuff you’d like to see there and I would submit it. (Check whether there is “Edit this page” button in the top left corner of article pages. I think when I first found the wiki I didn’t have sufficient rights and lost interest…)

If there is a a "Edit this page" button i can not find it ... (I also let my pc search for such a thing (F3 in Chrome on page source) )

Zottels map-research is a huge database of pretty much every map there is, if my mind remembers correctly hes slowly "working" himself through those maps (checking if good/bad laggy/fluent etc.), in contrast I am for example only checking if maps I find are good for bomb mode (since that is obviously the best game mode out there )

Well then I will let you know when I have something for the wiki, maybe somethings about making configs for demos and stuff like that, with a little help from Pirat and Zottel I managed to get (in my opinion some good configs... might just be helpful for others too.... and I once made myself a "config-editor" in c# (windows only/visual c#) which I looking back sadly deleted because I had no use for it (quit c# programming altogether only focusing on c++, but I'm getting of topic again).. I might just get the knowledge to make something new in js or php IF I finally sit down and work a little bit on that (well just some future fantasy but I'd love to do some stuff for the wiki is what I'm trying to say )

Aha. You sure you don’t mean Pirat’s database? He was last seen coding something to replace the wiki page due to the high anality level of the wiki (page size limitations etc).

i just double checked, if you login into the wiki (same credentials as in the forums) everyone registered on dswp.de has upload rights (includes edit) except for the namespaces dswp: and internal: (some wiki related pages might be protected as well by the software)

Oh. So when you log in there, from this point onwards you’ll be logged into wiki every time you log into forum? That explains it…

I don't seem to be smart enough to find any "upload" or "edit" button/link ..

You’re attempting to create a new page? This is done by visiting a non-existent URL (say, this one) and then pressing the big friendly “Create this page” button.
