tbh with people willing to give away tons of private information and/or even money to become beta testers these days I'm not even sure if the companies still pay dedicated testers.
Game testing is imho one of the weak spots in modern game development, there used to be payed testers then they started to select volunteers according to their skills, these days closed beta invites for big titles are random and thus more and more less qualified (and less interested in doing their job) people test the games, giving minimal to unqualified or even no feedback at all. But volunteers are cheaper then employees, rolling the virtual dice is cheaper then selecting them by hand.
There might still be some dedicated game testers out there but I think they are either still in their jobs from the old days or that one cousin that didn't manage to succeed in what ever line of work he chose ;)

You could find a job doing some localization stuff (== proofreading) but that's about it afaik and that doesn't require much of a education or anything. At least we've been offered to do some proofreading stuff at Ubisoft for the summer. Free apartment, flights etc.

seriously:
code a good game that kids like, earn billions.
(globalisation rulez!)
let amd, intel, nvidia and the whole scene kiss ur ass.
(they need u cause ure the kex to sell bleeding edge HW to the kids)
give some t-shirts to some children and tell them that they are pro now.
maybe someone gets a free ride and cookies/shoes/more t-shirts
(create dreams that never come true, profit from the fame.)

it seems like its the way that it works.

Hmmm about localization, can work in that because nobody needs that in croatia. We play games on english, and there is always support for english already.

About making games for android/iPhone: i'm not much of a programer, and even less programer for making games. Moreover i don't have android/iphone and i don't think they are worth it anyway...
