Possible cheater?

Hey fellow fraggers!

I noticed a player that maybe uses some kind of "aimtargetting" to help shooting. It is not actual aimbot, but works as the same way.

He uses it quite wisely, but sometimes the use of it is quite clear

What do you think of this demo?

Looks like a low-FOV aimbot, badly configured at that (doesn't hit too often).

Watched the demo with /timescale 0.2 and I'd say he's clean. However, he has surprisingly good aim for his movement and the lack of ability to let go of the fire button.

Oh, and even if he is a cheater with that ratio it doesn't really matter because he isn't ruining the game much.

Truly, spending lots of time on someone like this one would be rather pointless. However, here I have a chance to learn again: when he aims at someone, his crosshair stops abruptly (and on the market, stays on target while the enemy is jumping down from the alley balcony). Of course, the fact that he's aiming at the model, not the hitbox, is a typical human mistake; however, combined with the crosshair movements, I concluded that it's a badly working bot. Comments?

I somewhat doubt that someone who could write his own bot would go to a public server with it working that badly... Things like that are the bane of untested software: "real" bugs are relatively easy to find and fix, but the edge cases (depending on the environment) prove to be more difficult. When you throw something as inherently unstable as game into the mix, strange things can happen. (For a hilarious example, see this guy.)

Yes, but movement towards the target is not at constant speed. Could it be lock-on-target-something?

Um, it feels weird to explain it to a mod, but a bot set to a very low FOV (10° or so) allows you to move pretty much unhindered (you've seen those idiots who lemming because their bot starts tracking at the most inappropriate moment), but locks your crosshair when sweeping over an enemy.

Anyway, I watched it again (yes, in slow motion, as before) and now I kinda wonder how I saw anything unusual here. (Well, his inability to stop shooting is unusual, but not nearly illegal.) Even when firmly on target (which doesn't happen all the time), his crosshair floats somewhat, unlike low-FOV bots I've seen this far that can lose the target when it moves too fast and have to be realigned. So... now I'm saying "no bot".

I have to grow a bigger ego so I wouldn't feel silly that often:-)

EDIT: Sorry, 10 degrees would be way too much, 1 or 2 at most.
