people manage to run eve online - a quite heavy fx game - on linux+ati, despite the lack of linux support and the explicit warning from the devs that it wont run on ati hardware. so i guess its not that bad.
Despite many popular beliefs, Linux was originally designed to serve a certain purpose, and thus, obviously, to work in the process.

Anyone remember the days when Oblivion would not run on 64-bit Windows? Well, I used to run it on 64-bit Linux (and on a 1600MHz CPU, while it required 2.0GHz; and using 64MB or VRAM for Cedega, while Oblivion required 128MB). And guess what, it was working with more stability than it was on Windows XP Pro 32-bit.

urt not a good example m8, it runs natively on linux and uses native opengl, while eve online is totally alien and uses dx10

I can't wait until I see a distro that's recursively eventually based on itself.
