Do you have 32 or 64 bits version of UrT ? What binary do you use ?
You say it looks like 256 colors, any screenshot ?
What is the value of r_lastValidRenderer variable in your .cfg ?

I'm using a standard 32Bit binary, i don't use those special builds by mitsubishi and 27.
valid renderer says: ati radeon 2400 series.

Yeah the fps looks good in that corner, cause it's closed, not much is drawn.
But as soon as i go near the cable car depot and look down it drops to 35 FPS and i used to get 80 on a local host.
It's fucking frustrating, i used to play this game on a HP laptop with dual core 2x 2.2 Ghz turion and an integrated
ATI Radeon X1250 with 128 mb, core and memory speeds were 350 Mhz, and i never had this kind of FPS problems.

Wow textures look so ugly oO What mode do you have for texture and global, 16 or 32 bits ?
Have you tried another game ? For example another OpenGL game and a directX game, it would help to spot the problem.

I'm using 32 bit modes, for textures and colors. I tried playing Killing Floor and it works fine even on higher settings, i have to reinstall UrT 2.6 and quake and try them too.

Have you tried to delete the old UrT configuration file and start UrT again?

Been there, done that. I just switched fro catalyst 10.7 to an older 8.6. It seems to improve the FPS, and i found
a "solution" for the 256 colors thing, every damn time i run UrT i have to first alt+tab and then return to the game.
Only God knows why do i have to do that, and the damn thing can't be overclocked. CCC tests it for 600 core and
500 memory clocks but they don't stick, each time i hit apply it takes it back to default 500/400.

I am guessing it could be some BIOS/driver protection that prevents overclocking the card... you can always try another tool like RivaTuner. There are some better 3rd party tools for ATI cards but can't remember the names... I have been using a Nvidia 8800GTS 640Mb for 3 years...

And yes sometimes is better to stick with older drivers when using a dated card... for example, recently I upgraded the drivers of my card from 195.xx driver to 256.xx (Don't know the exact version atm), and I have seen some decrease in performance in a few games especially with newer engines...
