I like the first one more, although it sounds a bit too much like 90s.
What is the exact name for the music style in the remix? It reminds me of Davide Squillace and his Hideout Records.

I would consider it to be progressive house, but the boundaries of dance music are a bit vague from time to time

The first song sounds too 90's cause that remix is i think 9 years old or something like that, second one is....house i guess.
dmmh is right boundaries have been disappearing and it's getting harder and harder to tell to which genre a song belongs to. If you browse through some comments under similar songs on youtube you can see people arguing over that kind of stuff to such degree it turns into insulting sometimes.
People are combining hiphop and breakbeat rhythms with trance and techno and it turns out pretty damn good actually.

the second one just leaves me unsatisfied. Granted, the original sounds dated, but then again IT IS DATED, it's a 14 year old song; computers and hardware were may more limited then now.
The new version is just repetitive and doesn't quite build up as it should and imo is a pale comparison to the original. Which is funny, because it's getting massive airtime by DJ's from around the globe....
I'm just saying....
