I always hated those shortcut overlays on Windoze...it was one of the first thing I removed

i was about to say the same thing.

It only lasted for a few minutes. ATM it looks like this:

Yes, I keed saturation at 30% and brightness at 50%. Compiz saved so much nerves and eye strain for me.

P.S.: Icons at the bottom of the screen are not launcers, they are task list (left) and system tray (right).
