knifing is seriously owning me, having lots of fun doing it, much more then playing normal haha
thing I notice is, when somebody is knifing on the server, other ppl tend to join.

Is it an idea to only allow knives for say an entire mapcycle for every day during one week?
And at the end of the week the results are published....not before!

I think dmmh would like to see that he had most kills last week, as he passed svarox. We could have like +1 or -2 on that "top 10 knife users" if somebody got or lost place last week. As mapcycle changes, new week starts.

I think it would be nice if we could have some time of day/night in week when only knives are allowed on server.... I hate when i'm slicing with somebody, and some idiot comes and kills us both (so it's 1 tk, one kill).....

Although slicing is fun once in a while I don't think disabling the real weapons would be beneficial to anyone. Slicing on this server is somehow thrilling because you have such a big disadvantage, if you would force the whole server to use the knife half of them will suck and eventually leave, so I still advertise playing the game.
Top 10 knife killers this week in the forums could be interesting, especially for me since I will drop out of the top 10 list soon anyways :P

I don't remember which server it was, but, after every -maybe- 10 rounds, there was a short round about 2 minutes, knife only.

Very funny, and realy fast and refreshing for that short period.
Something like that can be realized by using cvars in mapcycle.txt right?

SPAS only would be fun too, especially on Doom16

There is some server which has all time only pistols, knife, SPAS, HK and HEs.
And i think Balkan expres, when it comes to dressingroom has only pistols and knifes.

I would say F2 too, because I prefer to slice people with automatic than noobs who can't handle a knife, and I couldn't play long without a LR300 or SR8 =). What SKracht said is a nice idea : imagine swim or firingrange knife only every 10 maps

Concerning the knife contest, maybe I could code that into my plugin, if I use Db storage. For example, it could display temporary knife stats somewhere on the website every friday (the day the mapcycle is updated) and reset it for the following week.

About the knife plugin, I've coded a challenge function. I've noticed that sometimes you want to slice a player in particular, so let's make it public =). !knch <playername> displays a bigtext with the name of the guy to slice, the first to slice him/her will have his name displayed too, and if he has not been sliced during some time he wins the challenge. I've not updated it yet... If it fuck up the gameplay I will remove the function

well, as I said, I dont mean only knives for a whole day, just some maps, but I can see the disadvantages and downsides and how it may scare people away. So it was just an idea

I dunno, I am just having so much more fun playing with knife then with any other weapon
And I can see what you mean with it being more fun to slice people with automatic weapons then an entire server full with people who don't know how to handle the knife
