ut4_dust2_v2 Buggy, boring, overplayed, i hate it ( But could hook up newbies and oldies))

ut4_prague Good but ppl leave when this is played.
ut4_subterra Not recommended currently. Once stable base is made then better to have. Remember people tend to leave on this map.
ut4_abbey Ofcourse
ut4_train_dl1 (classic of bomb) Agreed and popular with dswp crowd- However not recommended in usual cycle.
ut4_uptown Definitely, fills void of vertical play and jumping and lemming.
ut4_facade_b5 (nice map, interesting gameplay) Not recommended before stable base players
ut4_casa It is always good to play but it is a red sided map. doesnt work with 3vs3 or 4vs4 but awesome when server full
ut4_domking_rc1 Not recommended currently
ut4_paris_v2 Hmm, People leave. Mixed feeling for this
ut4_swim Tough for some, Usually not recommended
ut4_algiers Must have
ut4_docks , Very good for regulars but hard for newbies. And its a red sided map
ut4_austria (edit, I forgot about this, quite interesting gameplay) agreeeed.

swim is mad in tdm, in bomb it has 1 easy and 1 hard (blk) bombspot, dont like it either...

about maps:
this topic never ends and and it sucks alot since theres no truth just taste.
sure we have majorities. if we dare to count them.
cause of that we implemented an automatic map vote.
u can look it here:
map_voting.php

now this machine was fully accepted for the first but over time less and less people used it.
i think a complete new cycle every week was too much for the typical TDM player.
plus voting once a week is worse then it could happen to a swiss man. (:
ah and sure, teh jump needs another map cycle, so do TDM/Bomb etc.
making them vote for all those servers will harm compliance even more.

anyways, if u ask me is cool to have a machine for things that occur frequently.
im the guy that prefers dish washers.
so mine wish would be to enhance that cyclevote bot if theres a sane concept.
its bringing players to us and in action that are not satisfied with the situation, i think thats a real peace keeper.
i need some ideas how it could be.

we could take just 1 new map in cycle every week for example.
and throwing out 1 goes like that:
we have the player numbers in DB. we have them @ map start and we have them @ map end.
that way we find the least popular map.
in past this wasnt possible cause the "cycled out bug" but that seems to be fixed.
in a short: bot throw bad map out, humans choose new map in. limit to 1 map / week

this was just 1 of 1000 ideas, i would like to have some feedback.
we have alot of data inside B3, we can have even more cause were able to modify everything.
(not everything, for exampe the irc bot (cuntbot) has no support atm)


@custom maps
custom maps always need some time till people start to enjoy them.
maybe we can prevent adding custom maps as long as people struggle with the maps that are already there.
we would have to monitor fluctuation over time.
again, we could monitor map-connect/disconnect behaviour.
maybe more interesting for TDM users...

@cycle sequence
ah and sure we have the issue of map sequence.
having 5 sniper maps in a row is hard for automatic players.
sure the map cycle vote has a table with voteable maps.
size is already there, what about else map infos that can help building the cycle?

@voting system on the forum
In the long term it will never work, because the amount of people who visit the forum isn't comparable to these who play at server . Though voting for maps via B3 could work. Lilpwny community had such a system on their servers, !like and !dislike commands for maps.

@cycle sequence
for all servers it should be first of all size formula bigger/smaller(medium)/bigger map etc.. to let people cycle to smaller map if there are just few players on. Subsequently mixing 3rd party maps with official ones, and most popular with slightly less ones.

@custom maps ---> 2nd server dedicated for them
the advantage of bomb over survivor is that there are plenty good or at least decent bomb 3rd party maps! Since I mentioned that 7v7 server is recently very popular in the evenings and its hard to join. (I already heard complaints from few people about it and I often see people going away from spec slots dissapointed that they couldnt join the game.) There should be 2nd bomb server! :) And why not make it custom maps only (in other topic i suggested cs maps only one). 1st server could turn to classic then (official maps + just most popular custom maps like orbital or dust2 in the cycle, or some other which gain popularity on the 2nd server). Zietsh promised to look at the possibility of making a b3 script to set different round limit of each map. That would realy benefit especially on such a server. Very good and appreciated maps could be set to 10 rounds, good but less known to 7 and maps to test or just decent to 5 for example.

Guys could you configure 5v5 bomb server as custom maps only? ( At least to prevent me from replying my own posts here! :lol: )

Is it possible to block voting for standard (official) urt maps somehow? Then custom maps rotation could be shorter, and the rest of custom maps just votable.
