BTW, there’s actually a new updater (32-bit Win) sorta-kinda available… it was one of the sorta-kinda downloaded-or-well-usually-not components in .008 and apparently sorta-kinda supposed to be used from that point onwards, except that it sorta-kinda doesn’t exist at all. (I found this via the official file list and downloaded it manually, but at least one person has asked on the forum if he’s supposed to use the v002, having gotten this as a part of the update.) I finally ran it some fifteen minutes ago, and it’s obviously half-finished — it can do MD5 (including running a check on the existing files), but then offers you the option of updating anyway as if the checksums weren’t important at all. And then it fucks up your installation — we know that the urtinfo CDN has been hosed since the night of .009 release, so it might be caused by this, or maybe the updater itself. I dunno.
Just another bit of the FS master plan of making their players feel uneasy, I guess.
4.2.010 released. Notable changes include /ignore, redone animations, forcing skins(!!!!!1!!1!eleventy) to any of the ten possible ones (no glowskins… yet), and Quake Live–style mouse acceleration. The 3.1 version of the updater is now part of the official download, and at least on Windows XP does what it should, more or less.
This time I don’t have to pester Crushie to Wireshark the (again) changed URLs to the game assets — I realized that my antivirus (Avast!) shows the last scanned connection, I just had to be fast with the PrintScreen key:-D All direct links, MD5 checksums, and file sizes updated in the Beginner’s Guide.
Animations… well yeah, better; breathing is still exaggerated and jerky, and deaths even more hilarious (see the video below). There are also some broken poses (pistol and knife hold is correct when standing, rifle-style when crouching). The idea of holding the weapons low when not shooting has been toned down — the weapons are held higher and the barrels point in a reasonable direction. Still looks rather silly when you pull the trigger. BTW, I just realized what the knife animation (that has been there since .001) looks like if you spam the button… OMFG.
Other changes I noticed include Deagle having been rolled back to the 4.1 model, and bots being mostly inactive on Turnpike.

.011 released, wiki updated. Some bug fixes, the lists in menus can now be scrolled with the mouse wheel(!!!1!zero-eleventy), added Prague v2 from UrT HD (the old one is still there, no worries), GTV fixes…
4.2.012 released, wiki updated. Some bug fixes etc; a notable change is that funstuff is back now. It can be disabled from the server and the client side, and used in FFA/LMS/JUMP modes.
.013 released. Changes include the addition of Colt 1911 pistol and Ingram MAC-11 submachinegun, a new white skinset (droogs, inpired by A Clockwork Orange), string matching for map and player names (like in B3), more hit locations to fix the problem of excessive leg hits (there’s now butt, groin, upper and lower legs and feet), and for jump mode, client-side ghosting, goto (teleport to someone else’s location) and server-side permanent location saves were added.
The client binary that comes with this version is causing problems for some people, including me (mouse cursor being displayed alongside the game cursor / crosshair); you can choose not to update the binaries, back them up and update, or update anyway and re-download the .012 client if things don’t work out.
This release, like the previous one, was accompanied by a live stream with Q&A session. The broadcast features, among other players, me failing my way through various gamemodes (I’ve been in the quality assurance team since May).
