About the performance numbers. It will hard to change anything unless some miracle comes. The Q3 engine never was intented to run with that eyecandy stuff. There are out there N examples of graphics mods for Quake Engines that hurts seriously the performance of any card a lot more than this UrT HD.
This game has been in development for 2 years now (possibly more) and they didn't even manage to release a working alpha.
I don't think were expecting too much. I mean is it too much to expect decent FPS?
This game is supposedly using 2 cores now instead of 1, and the GPU is used alot more then in 4.1
With those 2 together....the results are catastrophic. I have everything turned off and i play the game as if it's 4.1.
In local host i get constant 125-126 fps without any drops. No matter where i am in the map.
As soon as i join a server my fps goes down to 15-50.
That "it's a free game be happy" excuse FS team has been using for years now is very lame.
There are other free FPS games i play, that were also made by the players, for the players and they're top notch.
Best examples are A.V.A. and Parabellum. Which are probably the best free fps games to day.
If they don't fix these graphics issues in the final release, i doubt much people will be switching to 4.2.
