i didn't like sauerbraten that much (tested it some years ago), but if further information is required i could try to get trough to the guys who started building the engine in the very beginning.
I haven't seen them for years so i don't know if they are still that involved but it could be worth a try.

Nexuiz has pretty good graphics and Quake 3-ish gameplay, but there was some licensing shit going on too. The old maintainers wanted to go to PS3 or xbox and stopped development or something like that. community now does that afaik

xreal is also some damn awesome engine, graphics-wise it probably can compete with latest commercial engines (at least until rage isnt released :>), but in damn early development and you need to be lucky as hell to get it even to compile. but damn, it sure looks incredible :D

so, whos in writing a dswp mod for some engine? :)

but the problem is, we are still students Rylius and other people might not have so much time and energy, cause of work ;) (ehh me neither have much time but well..)

im still a student :P

biggest part of a total conversion is getting models with proper animations and textures done, the rest is done pretty fast actually

I've tried Nexuiz once, it indeed is really a q3-ish game. Unsure if it's a good idea that dswp run a server for such a game, I don't think it's much played nowadays, is it?

Instead of running an OpenTerror server, I think staying on UrT 4.1 will be just easier. Anyway I've got some doubts on what OpenTerror is; it is supposed to be an opensource game but it uses (copyrighted?) Frozen Sand weapons (such as LR300 that I've seen on some video about it)...

Lots of big servers are bothered by that as well. By reading this message, it seems that it will take a while before the 4.1 servers masterlist be empty.

I'm reluctant to believe that they're aware that they'll kill a lot of UrT communities if they keep that way...

@masterlist: we will see
@new version: we will install

@alternatives: sticking with (io)q3 would be nice, think about the B3.
sure having some own game like urt would mean having models and weapons, theres bunches of maps existing.
staying urt maps compatible would mean offering similar textures under same name.

with that open terror project: it looks kinda dead...
