 Post subject: Make a ne ident system?

is it anyhow possible to let only people connect and join a game, when they are logged on in the forums?

this way u could enable kind of an account system.... u need ur "ID", you need to be logged on in the forum...
maybe do that (if possible at all) on a second server, to let the first one be on for new peeps and the second one for the veterans.

JUST A SUGGESTION IF POSSIBLE

nice idea.. but our server isnt always on top because so many veterans play here!!

we wouldnt have 1 fucking player after 2 weeks, belive me ;)

if u say the people u HAVE to be @forum 2 play.. forget it, 90percent will not do it

but still i say, the idea would be fine.. a good community with only peoples they know together

hm in fact u would need a packet filter that has sql backend, the rest is normally done with select AS etc.
more ways are thinkable through scripting languages and iptables. at least i think so...


he rly, its nice idea to connect forums and gameserver users automatically, maybe by IP (this would theorethical just make an issue if theres more then 1 behind a dsl router)
but letting just people from forums in would mean having average 1,3 players in game :)

Right now we have over 2500 active players, and we have less than 25 active members on forum. So average player number would be less than 1 :o . But if people would like to register on forum that would be very good idea.

Maybe we should write big text massages that people should register on forum? "!bigtext Register at our forum at http://www.dswp.de" (/old/index.php?). I know b3 says things like that, but people don't listen to him much... like Helge :D Everybody sees bigtext massages.

After we have 1000 members we could put that "login to play" system. That would be goodbye to cheaters forever! Since cheaters don't like to register much....

yeah and the next time the server has a problem all those 1000 people will open new threads using an horrible English (bet a lot of foreign languages as well). For the sake of the forum I vote for keep banning players in game and wait till frozen sand comes up with a global ID.

hm u know whats the problem in a global id?
u must prevent users from register multiple times.

- valve does that through the price of a cd, where uid is written on.
- frozen sand are uncommecrial so they would have to use the real life ID of the people. i think that means to have official registrar in every country, players would have to travel to other town at least to show the passport

in the end i think for our small place here it could be ok to match them by IP.
phpbb store the last ip of the forums users, a scheduled run could lookup b3 database for that ip.
on match the B3 player ID could be written in a new column in phpbb_users table.
that way we would have a chance for more colorful memberlist :)

Nobody here don't speaks perfect English :) And I think few moderators (on forum) can handle that things.
