And if it says no space on device, it simply means the disk is full, and by no means that the server fell.

ah, just to tell u the reason:
du -sh /var/log gave me 24 GB.

In fact yesterday I deleted 2 videos from /var (don't worry there is a backup at Humppa's HD =), but it didn't free a single bit, although the total size was about 110 MB... Any explanation ?

ure sure u deleted it from the webserver?
if so, it can be that it happened while the backup ran so the system started to use that little space free again in that second.
