Specs seem fine except for RAM, only 4GB... are we still in 32-bit era? 4GB isn't enough to place a DVD image into RAM when copying one.

I don't like AMD so I'm not judging
and 4G is more then enough, with my (rather minimal) system I use 1G tops, and then is firefox, skype, mumble, urbanterror and whatever running whilst I burn a dvd, loading dvd images into ram ... why? Get the kernel, X and UrT into memory, ok, would need 0.8G give or take. The only reason to force in a lot of cores and memory is running virtual systems.

If it's the pc pictured on the left, i'd defenitly do it, has a nice alienware case and good air distribution IMO.

i like the guys who make the better processors, not the better marketing.
or the higher frequency. or the golden noobproof socket.
sure you may have problems with future versions of windoof or photoshop or else adobe products. but for the money and the energy that u spend:
u get much more.
i would neverever run a mysql server on an intel cpu.
the memory interface of an intel is stoneage, compared to amd.
what i would like to say to intel: fu off, lama!

I agree with Wursti that AMD owns Intel big time.

And about RAM, if you're browsing the way I am, a web browser may take up over 1GB on it's own easily. GIMP with over 100 hi-res images loaded may also take up a lot. Not to mention video-editing needs a lot of RAM unless you like swapping. And there's still caching of data storage for faster re-access. Atm I have only 2GB of RAM and consider this to be very very little and far from enough. Actually I'd ideally like to have more RAM than HDD, so no data from the HDD would ever need to be loaded twice in the same session, and so I could place the swap onto a ramdrive, to fool those few ancient applications that refuse to use RAM.

Well I guess that's the most important part to any configuration. :D
