You were asked by more then just one person on that server to stop spamming. On which you continued to spam the chat box even more.

This silly person has way over 1500 server bans behind him (not a single one ever overturned) and more then 3500 reviewed demos (of which 70% were people that ended up banned). The point of this statistic is not me trying to say "I'm a better admin then you" what i am trying to say is this. I have been around, i have quite a bit of experience and i didn't post his demo cause i CAN'T ignore a douche on a server. I posted it cause he crossed the line. I have good judgment and i probably wouldn't post it if he didn't drag my family into this which is something i don't tolerate for one second.

@dmmh Dude i don't know what to say except for, I'm sorry man, i really am. I almost lost my father 2 years ago when he had a heart attack and i know the feeling when a member of your family is sick and there's nothing you can do about it.

I respect you Rayne and even though you may have jumped onto it, imho he started it and he went too far.

I'm not sure if it actually is worth a month of banning, one word came to another in the heat of the moment. Imho it is not and this is why I unbanned him, but he needs to behave a bit more respectful. He doesn't mean any harm, but he has a different perceiption on the chat and the people, that may not necessarily comply with our expectations. We require a certain amount of respect, if he is not meeting up with that, a 1d ban is a measure that appears to be reasonable.

Just try to evaluate if a 1d ban is really justified before you ban him. Especially you Aimme, I know he pissed you off before and thus one tends to ban faster, but try to be neutral. If someone else said the same to you, would you just ban him as well? You're a good admin, except those that have been banned by you, nobody doubts that.
I'm not telling you how to deal with these matters, I'm merely giving suggestions.

I don't mean to oppose your opinions, but if teamkillers don't even get a 30 day ban, being an asshole while still playing fair doesn't justify 30 days either. Thus, if someone gives another 1 month ban, I will continue to turn it into a 1d ban (as long as it seems reasonable of course) - unless someone gives good reasons not to do so.

I suggest we end the discussion here.

Hmm this sure was a harsh argument, fast and strong bans flew through the air. As XTJ stated above, let's all calm down here for a bit (but stopping this discussion would be a bad step IMO since it gives us the opportunity to rethink our actions and be prepared for an other incident like this (sadly there will be more, maybe not with aimbot or Rayne involved, but there will)). But I would recommend to stop arguing like before.

aimbot did spam and gladly accepted Raynes request to be insulted.
Since the establishment of online FPS I can't think of noob used in a nice way ingame and therefor is an insult which some people take lightly and others just can't take it. So actually Rayne has shot the first insult. To report aimbot's insult which he gave after feeling insulted himself, Rayne asked for more insults and ended up with a random attack on his family.

The question is what to count as an insult and what to punish. Best would of course have been if one just ignored the other and both would have kept playing, but since it came to this incident apparently neither of those is able to act like that. Both acted wrong and if this leads to a ban I think both should get it (before you scream here read till the end).

On the admin side we once again experienced difficulties. While the people in this thread loved to ban aimbot for insulting and did not see a problem punishing him with bans up to one month for one line without considering the circumstances XTJ7 decided to side with aimbot and kept unbanning him, not leaving a note in this topic. And also to blame are of course all admins not taking part in this discussion and not trying to calm the situation (like me).

What was clearly shown is, that aimbot does not respect the other players what so ever. Not one sign of thought about his way of interacting on the server (or the internet in general, only observed on dswp related platforms) was seen and I think that the one day ban is not sufficient. Luckily we never had such a case before where one day might be too nice and one month is way too hard, good for us that we have more then two options. I propose one extra day of ban for every validated incident regarding spam or insult. From a fast lookup in his (rather long) echelon log I saw two such cases, and I do not want to count this mess. So if he is seen insulting or spamming he should be banned by 3 days, if he does it again 4 days, and so on. Working around a ban is naturally the hardest crime possible here and all measurements to keep someone like that away will be taken.

Since this was a chaos and it is though to point a finger on the perpetrator or the victim I say we just let it rest.

One last note to Rayne: We appreciate your help keeping the server clean and enjoyable for every one, but when people insult just do not provoke them, we do not need to see a demo, a time stamp from when it occurred is enough for our chat logging system to see what was going on.
