Oh no.... the german government is really anxious about the big bad internet these days. They'd like to block everything, because of the children.

This particular plan is a bit surprising for me. But if they only want to ban it in schools and governmental administrations, that's fine for me... (thinking about it) ... Strange, do they want to block the UrT website? Or ports used by UrT? As far as I know even universities were excluded from the planned child porn websites blocking...

In general I think the great danger of games like UrT is not the violence (which is not very realistic or unethical for a current game). It's more likely that someone plays too much und disregards other priorities in his (real) life and gets into problems on this way.

those fucking sissies never really enjoyed playing a game and they never saw someone die/being heavily wounded. All those studies just suck big time, it's "hey you play fps? get in this scanner and watch a few pics/vids", if they would take the gamers to a hospital in the emergency section just for 1 nights I bet my ass that 85% would puke. Ah yes but that's OT.

The german gov just got a new toy to ban sites from tha internetz! now they want to ban, ban, ban, like a 13 y/o who get's his first rcon ...
my whole generation grew up playing GTA and Soldier of Fortune, at ages which were so not appropriate, and we still don't try to driver over peasants and wait for points ...

With cca 7 years i played carmagedon and doom 2 and i never had any of this ideas..... As Samtron said, it's not problem with games, it's problem in people playing them too much. Only maybe porn games shouldn't be allowed to kids.

But for now in Croatia they don't watch who does what, so it doesn't matter to me for now. And i can still view dswp.de from my school.

I don't think that dswp will get blocked, we do not offer to download the game and we have rather few screenshots around. Besides the fact that they do not care about us we don't offer anything that is banned.

Yeah, but in germany you maybe wont be able to play UrT in schools, in croatia, if we had enough good PCs, we could play UrT and any other game.

in germany we had the hardware but the teachers really didn't like us to play any game ;)
bigger problem would be if they ban it from university networks since some student homes use that connection for private stuff too and they wouldn't be able to access it then.

What makes people aggresive is not playing killing games, on the contrary: killing games help you alleviate the stress. If there were no killing games I imagine I'd be a killer in real life (as well as I'd probably be either dead or in prison for the rest of my life). I think shooters reduce the stress in my life by a great deal.

Howver, banning online games from being played from schools is kinda right thing to do from the start. You don't go to school to play games, you go to school to boil up some stress (and hopefully learn something that you'll hopefully remember for at least a week).

And there is that acctual purpose of school: since parents have to work all day, they can't be with their children. Because of that they become agressive and parents have no means of upbringing the children themselves. Here teachers are supposed to become the supplement for parents, although sadly most teachers are not aware of that.



It's the badly structured society that makes children aggressive, not the games.

On the other hand, what would you do if you were the german administration? They found a popular online shooter, which is not age classified yet. It's logical that they want to examine this game, and it's good that they inform Frozen Sand about this and invite them. Perhaps just disabling the blood makes it okay for german laws. And that schools will not allow a (probably then) USK-16 game is logical for me, too. I can't imagine that they really want to block websites, at most I expect a birthday control for the official UrT website.

I hope this development is not as bad as it looks like...
