Top skill only show people being active in the last few weeks. And it's not a matter of kills, since when you die you lose points. Knife freaks usually die a lot, so their skills is never really high. It's fair because due to their behavior they don't really help their team (or sometimes are responsible for its defeat =).

Yes that makes sense ty

EDIT: Sorry it doesnt make sense ;) By the logic that ratio matters more than the weapon then Mack0 should be first right? He almost doesn't die... Dooku with 1.x ratio was no.1 which means the fact that he was using secondary weaps counted much more than the ratio... given that its much harder to kill with knife than secondary... then knifers like dmmh and you should be on top by a far margin ! I also seem to notice that when i use SR8 i tend to get lower skill, even though my ratio is bigger than using automatics. Is SR8 an "easy" weapon? :o

Btw i don't mean to be mean or question things in a critical (negative) way it's just that as an engineer student i get interested in these things i hope you understand :)

I can tell: my skill doesn't mean I'm better than those players - that's why I was surprised it's so high - I see much better players every time I connect. ... And I often play with H&K MP5 and UMP45 as a main weapon... ;) Are these "hard" weapons? I see fragging with MP5 much easier than with, for instance, AK - and fragging with SR-8 is terribly tough for me :D I sure don't see it as a easy weapon... but it depends on every player's style...

I was just with SR8 and in 5 maps i went from 14th to 24th even though my ratio increased and i was always 1st :)

Mp5 is harder because it deals little damage - same as negev... for example you just need 2 shots on torso with AK on a player without kev to kill him, but with MP5 you need 4...

There is no such thing as "counts much more than", there are only calculations, which may be fair and may be unfair... Read the source code here to know what happens when you kill someone :
http://github.com/courgette/big-brother ... lrstats.py starting from line 803. ELO system has proven that it works quite fine when it comes to evaluate skills, it had advantages and drawbacks too (like inflation for example).
Again, take dmmh for example. Imagine he has 30 knife kills and 60 death. If he wins 2 points when he slices you and lose 2 points if he dies, that's equal to -60 skills points. If his K/D ratio is 30/15, that means +30 skills points. Weapon factor for the knife doesn't compensate the risk of slicing people in this case...
Take the code and run simulations you will see what is better for your skills =)

On server xlrstats.xml is default from xlr (skill ratio for different weapons) or customized?

dont forget I have to die a zillion times before I make knifekills. Well, thats an overstatement, I do tend to be numer one even with playing only knife, but my ratio will be 1:1 or less then. If I would make 3:1 ratio with knifeonly I would have skill way beyond 2000 me thinks :D

But I dont give a rats ass about stats (xlrstats anyway), but I do care about fun and breaking knife records, even if it means having only 800 skill score :)
this week I used !xlrstats for the first time in months I believe ;)
