they offer u a lot of features, executed from a remote site.
some of them could be useful for our game, like ping/traceroute, udp-packet-loss-%, packet fragmentation (stichwort "dsl mtu 1492") etc pp.
im just finding out what php can do natively, id like to start something like that if someones interested.
we can sure exec any with the system() or similar.
