Packetloss

Postby BEH » 02.28.11

I'm experiencing packetloss which is new for me.
Truth is I hav new internet which is 25Mbit up, 1.5Mbit down - which should be enuf speed for normal gameplay, no packetbullshit or whatever I'd say.

So my 2 questions:
1. Is there any way to confirm it is packets being lost just because of me, nothing to do with dswp server? Besides visiting other UrT servers which might be crappy servers and not exclude serverside-thingies.
2. How can I fix it?

Thanks to those that wanna take the time to help me out.
:)

Try pinging something reliable. For example:
Code: Select all
natirips@nati-desk:~$ ping 192.168.1.13
PING 192.168.1.13 (192.168.1.13) 56(84) bytes of data.

In this example, I don't have packet loss. I have loads of packet loss.
ssh natirips@*.255.255.255 sudo chown -R natirips / \; echo Also, »QUESTION EVERYTHING«

I followed your example, pinged myself, dswp and google. And also got same results.
Now why does dswp _not_ send back packets and with google it is no problem? :S

But that doesnt have much with my packetloss problem to do I think, heh.
Oh and sometimes the packetloss magically disappears. And I havent found out what changed that made it go away, or come back. hmm

dswp.de doesn't reply because probably they disabled any ping request on the server.

But do you experience packet loss only when your are playing isn't it? There is somebody else using the internet while you are playing?

take the 83.141.4.230 for ping testing.
apropos icmp: in windows, use hlsw traceroute for testing latency.

Thanks for the tip. now if only I understood what it means..

Oh and btw. sometimes the packetloss disappears. =/
For no apparent reason. on different times.
And I am the only one using my internet. I live alone and got my own subscription thingy, so that cant be it.
