Here's what happens if I try to compile:
Code: Select all
natirips@nati-lap:~/Radna površina/mumble-1.2.0$ qmake main.pro CONFIG+=no-serve
r CONFIG+=optimize
main.pro:4: Unknown test function: CONFIG
main.pro:5: Unknown test function: CONFIG

main.pro:11: Unknown test function: CONFIG

natirips@nati-lap:~/Radna površina/mumble-1.2.0$

Am atm trying to manually download .debs from debian's repo via web browser.

@eXtr33m: AFAIK, Ubuntu 9.10 sucks more than Windows V.I.S.T.A aka Virus-intrusion-spyware-trojan-adware. ;)

Edit: I quit the idea of manual dl, too many dependencies, now burning a lot of stuff as switching to Debian testing. So if you don't hear from me in a few hours I'm busy. If you don't hear from me in a few days I messed up something badly. :lol: ;)

well i made it manually. Thing is Ubuntu 9.10 is new distro and has unstable and untested packages. So you could download mumble 1.20 without problems, from your add/remove programs i think. Well Debian is stable distro with all very well tested packages. So i had to enable testing repository and then install. I had some problem so i went manual way, download all packages and install them with sudo dpkg -i <name>.

Using Gentoo and Gnome together is basically like building a Space Shuttle from scratch only for your own personal use, and with all that knowledge you still implement just 4 buttons in your cockpit, because it's "simpler". :P Imho Gnome is a pain in the ass and Xfce or even E17 are much better to handle and worlds apart in terms of performance and compile time. So if you try to use Gentoo, get a real Desktop, not KDE or Gnome :)

I never liked KDE. But I found no other desktop environment than GNOME that can disable laptop's touch pad from clicking when tapped, which irritates me greatly. Minesweeper (one of my favorite games) is totally unplayable when it clicks instead of moves to a nearby cell.

And btw, I found xfce being slower than GNOME, although it takes insignificantly less RAM / disk space. Most other window managers I simply don't like or they're not compoziting so I can't use compiz with them. I'm a person who can't live without compiz (transparent windows, expo, color filters, negative, zoom, ...).

Anyway, now I'm fighting with my hybrid squeeze/sid Debian to get the sound working. Apparently they decided to remove sound from "new" Debian at some point.

mixing repos in debian always brought bad luck (and therefore a re install) to me as well :S

It never brought me to a reinstall so far. ;) But it brought me near 1GB downloads through updates.

I just had to mix repos because some packages I needed were not present in my version's repo.
