If device works optimally and is well built, and if the computer is practically dedicated to that single USB port, and if you don't count protocol overhead, bidirectional traffic and what-not you get ideally 12Mb/s. For example: when I transfer files over 56MBps WLAN from a computer connected directly to the same router via 100Mbps Ethernet cable using sftp I get barely over 10Mbps of effective transfer rate.
